Upromise and Sallie Mae Merge

I use Upromise to say a buck or two while I'm shopping for everyday items. I logged in to their website today to check on accumulated savings, and found that they have merged with Sallie Mae, the pseudo-governmental higher learning lending institution. I find it a little strange, and wonder how they are going to strategize moving forward. Should Sallie Mae be the type of marketing company that is Upromise?
