Dodged an NSF Fee!

This morning I logged onto my Bank of America online banking account to discover a bill had been processed, but not yet deducted from my account. I was a few dollars short, so I quickly transferred the funds from another account.

I dodged an insufficient funds fee this time. Phew! That would have cost me a few bucks I don't want to spend.

Last Payment to Sears

Regarding my post about Sneaky Sears, I made my final payment to them today. Awesome! No more high interest rate credit cards!

Sneaky Sears

I have a bone to pick with Sears card, but I'll just pay off the balance. I advanced cash from them years ago at 5.9%, then bought a dishwasher at 0% for 10 months. While paying the monthly amounts, they applied the payments to the 0% balance. At month 9, I paid the balance on the 0%, but they switched and applied the payment to the 5.9%.

If I recall correctly (IIRC), it is their right to decide where payments get applied.

The moral of this story is that if you take advantage of low interest promotional APRs, make sure you have enough cash available to pay off the balance in case they decide to rate-jack you.
