Sneaky Sears

I have a bone to pick with Sears card, but I'll just pay off the balance. I advanced cash from them years ago at 5.9%, then bought a dishwasher at 0% for 10 months. While paying the monthly amounts, they applied the payments to the 0% balance. At month 9, I paid the balance on the 0%, but they switched and applied the payment to the 5.9%.

If I recall correctly (IIRC), it is their right to decide where payments get applied.

The moral of this story is that if you take advantage of low interest promotional APRs, make sure you have enough cash available to pay off the balance in case they decide to rate-jack you.
